Patrick Girondi

FOUNDER and CEO

Patrick Girondi is the Founder and CEO of SRT and has more than 33 years of experience financing and advancing innovative treatments for severe inherited blood disorders. His involvement in the field began following his eldest son’s diagnosis with thalassemia in 1992. Since 1993, he has supported the development of pharmacologic and gene-therapy approaches to thalassemia and sickle cell disease, working with leading investigators, physicians, hospitals, and research institutions internationally.

Mr. Girondi has played a central role in financing and organizing clinical research, building strategic partnerships, developing biotechnology companies, and advancing gene-therapy programs. His work has included support for the development of the TNS9.3.55 vector program with Dr. Michel Sadelain at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and subsequent long-term patient follow-up programs in Europe. Through successive companies, including Beacon Laboratories and Errant Gene Therapeutics, he has built an international network across the rare-disease and gene-therapy communities. EGT became San Rocco Therapeutics in 2022.

Mr. Girondi provides SRT with entrepreneurial leadership, long-term commitment to the rare-disease community, financing experience, and an extensive international network of scientific, clinical, and patient-advocacy relationships.
