Dr. Frank Park

Dr. Park received his Ph.D. in Physiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin under the tutelage of Dr. Allen W. Cowley, Jr., who was a renown whole animal physiologist focusing on mechanisms related to long-term blood pressure regulation. After receiving his degree, he moved to Stanford University to pursue experience in gene therapy vectors in the liver to develop therapies to treat hemophilia, a blood clotting disorder. In 2001, he accepted his first position in a newly created gene therapy program at Louisiana State University Health Science Center in New Orleans. After Hurricane Katrina, Dr. Park moved up north back to the Medical College of Wisconsin and now presently at University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. His current research focus is elucidating mechanisms associated with tubular epithelial cell recovery following acute kidney injury (AKI).
