San Rocco Therapeutics-Europe:
Founded in 1995 by Patrick Girondi, CEO of San Rocco Therapeutics-Europe, the journey of the company in Europe began with the establishment of the Centro Medico Diagnostico San Rocco. This medical center became a key site for treating and supporting patients, particularly those suffering from Thalassemia. During its inauguration, world-renowned hematologist/oncologist Dr. Franco Locatelli attended, marking the start of a longstanding relationship with the company. We are very honored that he will be our Principal investigator for our upcoming trial in Rome at Bambino Gesù Hospital.
In these early years, San Rocco Therapeutics-Europe focused on providing crucial treatments for Thalassemia patients, introducing Arginine Butyrate as a groundbreaking therapy. This innovative treatment allowed patients to avoid the dangerous and often life-threatening blood transfusions that were prevalent during that time, particularly given the risks of AIDS transmission.
Over the years, the company has established deep roots in Europe, with a commitment to the well-being of its patients at the heart of its mission. Today, San Rocco Therapeutics-Europe continues to lead in gene therapy, focusing on accessible, life-saving treatments for rare genetic diseases.
We are the sponsor of clinical trial NCT01639690 in which Dr. Rita Barone of Ospedali Riuniti Villa Sofia Cervello in Palermo is our Principal Investigator alongside co-PI Rosario Di Maggio of Campus of Hematology Franco and Piera Cutino in Palermo.
We have an office location in Altamura, Italy, the same location of our first Medical Center from 1995. Our dream is to build a manufacturing center in Puglia after we treat and cure patients of Sickle Cell Disease and Beta Thalassemia.
